According to this USA Today story Covid -era free lunch programs are expiring leaving many with no lunch without making payments. How is that a free lunch? The government merely lent millions of dollars in lunches, launched record inflation, now require many families to pay back two years of lunches plus newly inflated lunch menu items. Cutoff for free is $36,000 for a family of four – which honestly would have been a difficult life ten years ago, and price tags are merely in the millions of dollars – pay the damn lunches for Christs sake. If we can afford sending a $47 billion DOWN PAYMENT to Ukraine for their war with Russia, surely we can afford to take 1% of that and make sure American children don’t go hungry. Wake up Republicans – this is your chance to show america you can be responsible with a gavel!
